LEVEL 1 TECHNICAL OFFICIALS COURSE
Triathlon NT conducted a Level 1 Technical Officials course on Friday 23 July 2010.
New officials, Rob Brooks, Raz de Jongh, Ron Griep, James Mitchell, David McLeod, Sue Parora and Daryl Stanley along with refresher course attendees Hans Bormann and Robyn Stanley gave up their Show Day public holiday to attend.
Triathlon NT appreciates the efforts of Technical Delegate Phil Blumberg who conducted this course.
WELCOME GOVE TRI CLUB
On 3 July 2010 the inaugural meeting of the newly formed Gove Tri Club took place.
Congratulations to new committee consisting of Rachel Verdel (President); Jenny Mann, Melissa Weldon, Clare Jones and Trudy Guiney. Necessary paperwork to have the new club incorporated in Northern Territory have been submitted.
Planning is now underway to conduct a seven week TryKidz program for juniors aged 6-15 years.
BALI INTERNATIONAL TRIATHLON
A group of Territorian triathletes travelled to Bali to compete in the Bali International Triathlon (20 June 2010).
The Olympic Distance event was won by Jens Wilken 2.27.22 with Darwin's Michelle Mitchell taking out the overall female title in 2.29.45

VENUE 2010 NT LONG COURSE TRIATHLON ANNOUNCED
Following consultation with stakeholders and members, the venue for the 2010 NT Long Course Triathlon has been announced.
The event will take place at Lake Bennett Resort on Sunday 15 August 2010 commencing at 7am. Race Director is Col Smith.
The move followed concerns about the safety of the Berry Springs bike course. Lake Bennett is has been used for many years at the location of Darwin Triathlon Club's Kerran Mudgway Memorial Championships and has previusly hosted the NT Long Course Triathlon.

TERRITORIANS MAKE AGE GROUP TEAM FOR 2010 AGE GROUP WORLD TRIATHLON CHAMPIONSHIPS
Triathlon NT congratulates Chad Anderson, Jason Jones and Heath Porter who have been named in Triathlon Australia's Age Group Team for ITU World Triathlon Championships in Budapest, Hungary (5 September 2010).
Anderson & Jones are also named in the Australian age group team for ITU World Duathlon Championships in Edinburgh, Scotland (August 2010).
SUCCESS IN SINGAPORE
A large group of Darwin triathletes travelled to Singapore for the 4th edition of Ironman Singapore 70.3 (21 March 2010). Michelle Gailey (F25-29) and Daryl Stanley (M60-64) had age group wins. Other podium places went to Bob Martin (M60-64) 2nd, Emma Winterflood (F35-39) 3rd and Sue Parora (F40-44) 3rd. Gailey and Winterflood were 13th & 14th Overall female placegetters (inc pro field)
2010 NT JUNIOR TRIATHLON CHAMPIONSHIPS
Mitch Scott (Alice Springs) and Imogen Teale (Darwin) are NT Junior Champions following the junior event at Lake Alexander. Congratulations to both. Scott (16) was competing in his first NT Championship event, while Teale made it back to back wins.
ALI CROSER LATEST TERRITORIAN TO QUALIFY FOR HAWAII
Darwin's Alison Croser has blitzed the F40-44 field at Ironman China to secure a coveted slot for Ironman World Championships in Hawaii this October. Ali's 11.26.10 not only secured an age group first but also a top ten overall placing. Triathlon NT congratulates Ali.
Also in action in China, Triathlon NT President David McLeod completed his first Ironman in 12.00.02. Rob Brooks, Shaye Hatty and Ian Norton also competed. Congratulations to all competitors.
NIKKI RODDIE 3RD AT IRONMAN CHINA 70.3
Darwin nurse Nikki Roddie has placed 3rd overall at Ironman China 70.3 (1.9km swim, 90km bike, 21.1km run) held in Haikou, China (Sunday 14 March 2010).
Fredrick Croneborg (Sweden) won the event in a time of 4hrs 14 mins 40 secs. Australia's Belinda Granger took the women's category in 4 hrs 42 mins 58 secs.
Nikki was making up ground on 2nd placed pro Amanda Balding ( 5.27.35) and finished only 2 minutes down.
Roddie swam the 1.9km swim leg in 38 mins 01 secs, averaged 31.23 kilometres per hour during the 90km bike leg, and ran the half marathon in 1hr 54 mins 20 secs to finish 3rd overall and 1st in the F35-39 category.
Also in action at the China 70.3 were Lee Wilson, Dave Croser and Phill Hatty who finished 3rd, 6th & 7th respectively in the M40-44 category
THREE TERRITORIANS AT IM NEW ZEALAND
Darwin triathletes Lucie Hardiman, Rachel De Zoete and Andrew Jones competed at IM New Zealand (6 Mar 10). Lucie was on a mission to secure a slot for Hawaii before major mechanical difficulties on the bike took place.
STANLEY QUALIFIES FOR THIRD HAWAII AT IRONMAN MALAYSIA
Darwin triathlete Robyn Stanley has qualified for 2010 IM World Championships in October following an emphatic age group (F55-59) win at Ironman Malaysia (27 Feb 2010). This will be Robyn's third appearance at Hawaii, having previously competed in 2008 and 2009.
Blue Watt (M50-54) missed a slot by one. Grant Preddy finished his first IM finishing 9th in M18-24 category.
2010 NT AQUATHLON CHAMPIONS:
Rising star Chad Anderson added to his growing list of titles when he took out the 2010 NT Aquathlon Championships at Lake Alexander on Sunday 30 January. Anderson relegated defending champion Grant Preddy to second place, with Lee Wilson taking the bronze.
The event which commenced at 6pm, attracted over 80 participants.
In the women's field, Michelle Gailey made it three NT Aquathlon titles in a row, leading from start to finish. Gailey was in impressive form, finishing third overall. Emma Winterflood took second and Hollie Goodall third.

TERRITORIANS GO WELL IN THE WEST:
Six Territorians headed to Busselton early in December for 2009 Ironman Western Australia and again proved that we produce top age group triathletes.
Stu Fitch chalked up another age group win in M55-59 in an impressive 10 hrs 29 mins 08 sec. Stu has qualified for Kona in 2010.
Alison Croser was competing in only her second Ironman event and came agonisingly close to a Kona slot herself. Ali's 3rd in F40-44 in a time of 10 hrs 48 mins 49 secs fell a mere 18 secs short of joining Stu.
Other Territory results included Darwin's Kathy McKay completing her first IM in 12.50.40 and Rod Gregg (Katherine) reaching a long held dream of 10 IM finishes. Rod finished IM WA in 15.15.46. Alice Springs was also represented with Matt Yates finishing in 14.30.33.

Congratulations to Chad Anderson who recently went under two hours to take 18th in his age group (M25-29) at the ITU World Championships on the Gold Coast (and just weeks after getting personal with the bitumen at this year's NT Long Course Champs). Kyle Gear also had a great weekend, taking 5th in his category (M20-24) at the World Aquathlon Championships.
Alice Springs legend Loie Sharp made the trip for the Sprint event and scored a top 10 finish in the F55-59. Well done, Loie!
Territory triathlon fans were glued to their computer screens on Sunday October 10 (Saturday October 9 in Hawaii) as local triathletes Nikki Roddie, Robyn Stanley and Stu Fitch put in a big day at Kona. A great effort from our International Ironman and women, who have all pulled up well and have many Ironman tales to share.
Michelle Gailey, Craig Garland, David McLeod, Jodie McLeod, Mick Outhred and Daryl Stanley mixed it with the best of them at the 2009 ITU Long Course Championships in Perth last weekend. Another big day with some awesome results.

The 2009 Arafura Games Triathlon has been done and won. Triathlon NT congratulates winners Tim Ellison (Darwin, NT) and Long Hoi (Macau), and all competitors, on a great race.
